Maryellen Cahill is a fiber artist who works in her studio at 80 Border Street in East Boston.
She is also a member of Atlantic Works Gallery, a collaborative space for art and ideas.
With a full-time career in Apparel Design & Development, Maryellen’s art is heavily influenced by textiles, stitching and color. Her focus is generally on the meditative details of stitching and beading incorporated in most of her work.
Traveling broadly overseas to Asia also holds a strong influence on pattern and subject matter in her mixed media pieces. She will often start her work with an inspiration from a small detail such as a scrap of fabric or found object and the work expands and takes shape as she works through it.
Maryellen has also curated many shows at Spencer Lofts Gallery in Chelsea, MA where she was co-director for many years.
