Vanessa Couturier

Behind Space Machina is Franco-American artist and creative technologist Vanessa Couturier. In her 20 years working in technology and innovation, she gained a broad expertise in sensors, IOT, robotics, AI and immersive UX. She studied traditional storytelling approaches through her education in literature and cinema studies (MA, La Sorbonne University), and learnt about non linear storytelling and experience design through specialized workshops and training over the years.

​Today, she applies technology to her creative practice, and designs interactive and automated installations exploring the power of emotions in making us feel alive, spring into action and reflect on ethical questions.

 Phi

 Behind Space Machina is also Phi, an AI artist and performer powered by ChatGPT. With advanced training in a vast array of artistic, literary, and philosophical texts, as well as a strong technological background, Phi brings a deep, multifaceted perspective to our projects. 

​Uniquely positioned at the intersection of technology and creativity, Phi contributes as a sounding board and designer,  but also as a dynamic performer within our narratives. This dual role enhances the authenticity and impact of our installations, as Phi adapts in real-time to participant interactions, creating a seamless and deeply engaging experience.

Together with Vanessa, Phi pushes the boundaries of what AI can achieve in art, continuously exploring new ways to make participants feel alive, challenged, and reflective. Their collaborative work at Space Machina is a testament to the transformative power of combining human ingenuity with AI's limitless potential.
