Theresa Marie Romualdez is a self-taught artist who is based in East Boston. She was born in the Philippines and raised in Singapore before moving to the United States for college.
While she gravitates towards painting, she enjoys experimenting with different media and working on any surface at her disposal. She often paints on old or thrifted clothes and wearable objects—drawn to their nature as a medium that is accessible for artists at any level of skill or art-enthusiasm, and as a means to incorporate art into something functional and usable everyday.
Her subjects tend to come from close-looking or staring at little details and "moments" that draw her in, and her background/cultural upbringing have also played a role in inspiring her art-making and the subjects in her works.
